JERSEY FIX - An Addiction to Newark and the Art World

"Jersey Fix" is an exhibition of 10 artists from and around the Newark and New Jersey Area. The art work on display consists of a variety of pieces on canvas, works on paper and mixed media.

"Jersey Fix" deals with the idea of being addicted to New Jersey and also having an obsession with the Arts. The atmosphere of the exhibition surrounds the viewer with our artists' most inner compulsions to create art.

Artists such as Jack Anderson, Michelle D. Farrera, Amanda LaMarco, Anibal Padilla, & Angela Silleti display works that reveal emotions, thoughts, dreams, and nightmares. Their works try to solve the need to identify as artists, and at the same time express their desire to explain a particular thought.

"Jersey Fix" will be on display as a part of the Newark Arts Council's Open Doors Studio and Gallery Tours. Hosted at 33 Washington Street in Newark NJ, the event will run from October 23- 25, 2009.

Tour of Art in Newton, NJ

The Third Annual Tour of Art, sponsored by Main Street Newton, Inc., kicks off when merchants all along Spring St play host to area artists working in watercolor, traditional oil, acrylics, photography, fabrics, ceramics and more. This year's Tour of Art includes twice as many merchant venues as last year enabling the event to show the works of more than 30 artists. The artists will be “in Residence” from 5-8pm at the merchant venues where their work is being displayed. Tour of Art provides a unique opportunity to visit with the creators of the art on display during a lovely fall evening filled with music, special events and store specials.

BOAS member Jennie Traill Schaeffer-Goldberg of TrailWorks will be part of this wonderful event!

The Four Seasons in Fiber Arts

The 2009 International Freeform Exhibit is now available for your viewing pleasure! BOAS member Andrea Lyn Van Benschoten is a participant in the online display.

This year's theme is "the four seasons." A total of 52 artists from around the globe participated this year. The artists were given the choice of creating one or more freeform pieces interpreting the four seasons. Unlike other years, they were not restricted to scrumbles and many of the pieces are wearable art and sculptural as well. None of the artists saw each other's pieces until this online show.

Later this year, a professionally printed book will be available highlighting the entire project and all the artists who participated.

You can check out the online show at the official 2009 Four Seasons Show web site. You will definitely not be disappointed!
